Hansard - 01-March 2005
Ms. Laurie Scott (Haliburton-Victoria-Brock):
My question today is also for the Minister of Agriculture and Food
in respect of the crisis that Ontario's grain and oilseed producers
are facing. I would like to remind the minister that corn and soybean
prices are at 25-year lows. Grain and oilseed producers are just
one example of a sector that is suffering because of a government
that doesn't have a plan. This government has turned its back on
rural Ontario.
The
Ontario Corn Producers' Association and the Ontario Federation of
Agriculture are calling for an immediate cash payment to grain and
oilseed farmers of $300 million to help them survive the 2004 crop
disaster prices.
