FLAURIE
SCOTT, NEW P.C. ENVIRONMENT CRITIC
For Immediate Release
August 24th, 2005
Today, Progressive Conservative
Party Leader John Tory announced changes to the official opposition’s
critic portfolios. Haliburton-Victoria-Brock MPP Laurie Scott was
named as the new critic for the Ministry of the Environment.
“I am excited by
this new opportunity,” Laurie Scott said. “The most
precious resource we have, and the legacy we will leave our children
is our environment. It is up to each of us to act as responsible
stewards and to treat our environment with respect.”
In her role as Environmental
Critic, Laurie Scott will be responsible for holding the government
to account for their policies to protect Ontario’s air, land
and water.
“I come from a
part of the province where it is a natural thing for people to want
to act as stewards of the environment. Fleming College is at the
leading edge of environmental research and education,” Laurie
said. “Stewardship programs and environmental education were
just some of the things that the Frost Centre was famous for. I
will be asking Minister Broten what her government is doing to replace
those programs.”
