Laurie
Scott invites local residents to celebrate Ontario Heritage Week
Laurie Scott, Haliburton-Victoria-Brock MPP, invites local residents
to celebrate Ontario Heritage Week 2005. Ontario Heritage Week runs
from February 21-27, 2005. This year's theme, Ontario's Heritage:
Our Shared Legacy, embraces all aspects of the province's history
and heritage.
Beginning
with the First Nations, down to through the eras of French exploration,
the Fur Trade, and early British settlement, down to the present
day, every community has contributed its own traditions and beliefs,
and established its own landmarks - special places that tell their
unique stories. Woven together, these threads create the rich tapestry
that is Ontario's cultural heritage.
"As
I have travelled across the riding I have had a chance to see first
hand many heritage buildings & have talked to the people who
are working hard to keep our heritage alive," said Laurie Scott.
"It is important that we preserve our heritage for future generations."
Ontario
Heritage Week offers a great opportunity to recognize and promote
local community efforts to preserve Ontario's heritage for future
generations. Numerous municipalities and heritage-based organizations
encourage both local and provincial awareness of heritage sites,
resources and issues within their communities during Ontario Heritage
Week.
