MPP LAURIE SCOTT PARTICIPATES IN EARTH DAY ACTIVITIES
Time for Ontario to Become a Global Leader
(Haliburton, Ontario) Local Member of Provincial Parliament, Laurie Scott (Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock), is recognizing Earth Day on April 22 by attending a number of environment-focused events.
“As leaders, it’s important that we do what we can do to promote awareness of the need for action on climate change, and reducing our environmental footprint,” said Scott.
Scott will be joining with Kawartha Conservation to plant a tree near the Ken Reid Conservation Area, as well as speaking at the Official Opening of R.D. Lawrence Place – an environmentally sustainable building celebrating the life and work of the local author and environmental activist.
“Kawartha Conservation continues to do a wonderful job of spreading the message of stewardship and conservation both locally and throughout Ontario,” added Scott.
Earth Day is recognized worldwide in over 175 countries. It is estimated that over 1 billion people will participate in Earth Day activities.
“It is becoming clearer that residents in our communities are aware that Earth Day is everyday, and are conscious of what repercussions our actions have on the environment,” added Scott. “I am pleased to help spread the word of Earth Day to the residents of Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock and am confident that we’ll continue to work on doing our part to make Ontario and Canada a global leader.”
“By working together, we can deliver a cleaner, greener Ontario and take meaningful steps to confront climate change today. Our children and our grandchildren will thank us.”
