There are a number of resources available for Seniors through both the federal and provincial governments, and access to these resources is becoming easier and easier as each year passes.
Ontario is home to about 1.5 million seniors and this number is growing. By 2028 the number of senior citizens in Ontario will rise to double that number. The riding of Haliburton-Victoria-Brock is home to the provinces second largest percentage of Seniors in Ontario, and it is important to me to ensure that everyone knows about the programs and services they can access.
An important and useful publication is called “A Guide to Programs and Services for Seniors in Ontario”. This publication is available both in print and through the internet. It contains a wealth of information that is useful for seniors, their families, caregivers and colleagues. The guide contains information about programs and services for seniors along with telephone numbers and e-mail and internet links where available. The online version of the guide is available in three different type sizes for easier reading.
If you have internet access, you can find the guide at the following web address: http://www.citizenship.gov.on.ca/seniors/english/guide.htm or by visiting the Links section of my web site www.lauriescottmpp.com.
The guide is available in print. For copies, contact the Seniors’ INFOline:

Each June, in conjunction with MP, Barry Devolin I organize Seniors’ Seminars throughout the riding. These seminars were well attended last year, and the speakers who participated were well received. This year I encourage seniors from across the riding to attend the seminar taking place in your community and to learn more about the programs and services available to you. Closer to the date information will be available with exact dates and locations for this year’s Seniors’ Seminars.
