COMMUNITY CELEBRATES RE-OPENING OF FROST
CENTRE
MPP Scott thrilled to see tradition of outdoor and environmental
education carry on
(Minden, ON) Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton-Victoria-Brock,
today was pleased to join the celebration for the long-awaited re-opening
and re-commissioning of the Frost Centre by the Frost Centre Institute.
“It is a thrill to be here today to see the Frost Centre
Institute re-open and carry on the long tradition of outdoor and
environmental learning in our community,” said Scott. “There
have been so many local groups and committed individuals who have
worked tirelessly to see this day happen.”
“Our combined efforts have made the government realize how
important the Frost Centre is to this community and the thousands
of people who visited it every year before it was closed in July
of 2004. Thanks to their commitment, that tradition is now alive
and well once again.”
“The community made a very strong appeal to see that the
Frost Centre was re-invigorated,” said Alain Aubry, General
Manager of the Frost Centre Institute. “As a result of those
efforts, we now have a world-class environmental and outdoor education
facility right in our own backyard,”
The Frost Centre Institute has established a number of outdoor
programs for students and young people including environmental science
seminars for Ontario schools, as well as a summer camp that includes
a visual arts program, water sports program and environmental science
program.
The revitalized centre also includes conference and accommodation
facilities, along with audio-visual and office support for guests.
Scott added, “I’m proud to see our community’s
dedication to carry on the Frost Centre’s tradition of environmental
and outdoor education.”
