MPP SCOTT ENCOURAGES SAFETY DURING SUMMER
HOLIDAYS
Reminds Motorists and Boaters to be mindful of children
(Lindsay, ON) As kids and young adults are getting out of school
for their well-deserved summer break Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton-Victoria-Brock,
is reminding motorists and boaters to stay alert, be safe and watch
for children.
“It’s important that we all remind ourselves that
many children will be playing outside while enjoying their summer
holidays. Those of us driving automobiles as well as enjoying water
related activities need to stay alert and use caution,” said
Scott.
Kawartha Lakes and surrounding areas see an increased population
of more than twice the usual amount in some areas as a result of
tourism and visitors to cottage country during the summer months.
This means significant increases to traffic on both roads and waterways.
“Summer is a time for kids to enjoy themselves and everyone
one of us needs to remember safety at play for those using our roadways
and waterways,” added Scott. “We know that no driver,
boater or jet-skier would intentionally hurt a child, but it is
worth reminding everyone to watch for kids.”
