SCOTT RECOGNIZES LOCAL VOLUNTEERS DURING NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK
(Queen’s Park, ON) Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton-Victoria-Brock today expressed her appreciation to the thousands of local volunteers while recognizing National Volunteer Week.
“Volunteering is the lifeblood of our rural communities and allows us to participate in nurturing our environment, bringing people together in hospital corridors and schools, on playing fields and in boardrooms for good reasons and for common purposes,” said Scott. “Today I say thank you to our many hardworking and dedicated organizations and their volunteers who are representative of that volunteer spirit.”
Scott also acknowledged the more than 2.5 million Ontarians who freely contribute more than 400 million hours of their personal time each year to community service and to meeting the needs of others.
“These volunteers mentor our children, feed our hungry, comfort our lonely, beautify our green spaces and fundraise for our charitable organizations,” said Scott. “I proudly salute all our volunteers who give tirelessly and selflessly to improve the quality of life of those they serve.”
