Scott Concerned About Rejected Ballots in Municipal Election
(Lindsay, ON) - Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton-Victoria-Brock,
indicated today that she has concerns with respect to the number
of non-counted ballots from last Monday’s municipal elections.
“I, along with many residents, have concerns that thousands
of mail-in ballots were rejected in the recent municipal election,”
said Scott. “My office has received a number of letters, emails,
phone calls and direct contacts on the issue.”
Each municipality is responsible for dealing with the process for
mail-in ballot voting, in that jurisdiction.
Further information on the Municipal Elections Act can be found
at the following link:
http://www.mah.gov.on.ca/userfiles/HTML/nts_1_3195_1.html
or by calling the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing Services
Office at 1-800-668-0230.
Scott added that should any municipal council have recommendations
to the Municipal Elections Act, as the Member of Provincial Parliament,
she would bring those directly to the attention of Minister of Municipal
Affairs and Housing.
